De Blasio’s Press Secretary to Resign
Mayor Bill de Blasio’s press secretary is set to resign after slightly more than one year on the job, an administration spokesman confirmed Thursday.
Karen Hinton submitted her resignation last month and is expected to leave her post by the end of June, at the end of the budget talks. Hinton called it “a privilege” to work for de Blasio.
Her resignation comes at a politically perilous time for de Blasio, whose administration is at the center of a federal and state investigation into its campaign finance practices.
Hinton is married to Howard Glaser, a former top official in the administration of Gov. Andrew Cuomo, with whom de Blasio has publicly feuded. Her appointment last year was said to have offended Cuomo.
