Israelis set a new record for car purchases in the first four months of 2016. Between January and April, 113,500 new vehicles were purchased in Israel – a 16 percent increase over the previous year’s figures, and an all-time record.

2015 overall was a record year for vehicle sales in Israel, with 255,000 vehicles sold – but if the current levels hold, 2016 will eclipse last year’s sales, industry experts said.

Hyundais continue to be the most popular models sold in Israel. 16,277 Hyundais have been sold from the beginning of the year – 3,139 of them in April, which was a “light” month for sales because of Pesach. That was an increase of 33 percent for Hyundai sales over last year’s sales for the models. In second place was Kia.
