Two Suspects Arrested in Murder of Israeli in Hungary

YERUSHALAYIM

Two suspects were arrested on Sunday in the murder of Ofer Gross, a 40-year-old Israeli who had gone missing in Hungary over a week ago.

The suspects in custody are both male, aged 21 and 19. Further details and the motive behind the murder still remain unknown, and police are investigating.

Israeli authorities notified his family, who traveled to Hungary and identified the body.

Gross, a resident of Yerushalayim, had gone to Hungary on a trip after finishing his studies in medical engineering.

Family members last heard from Gross over a week ago, when he told them that he was planning to spend time with an acquaintance from the town of Tisatzka. Family members had already contacted police and the Foreign Ministry at the beginning of Chol Hamoed, concerned that he had not been in contact with them for several days.

The acquaintance Gross was to have visited claimed that he did not show up. Police did not comment on the condition of Gross’s body or whether he appeared to be the victim of violence.

Gross’s body will be released for burial in Israel.
