Cuomo’s RV Tour Rolls On In Support of $15 Wage

Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s tour of the state in support of his call for a $15 minimum wage continued Thursday into Albany, where Cuomo spoke at a union hall.

The Democratic governor and labor leaders are making appearances around the state in a union-owned recreational vehicle dubbed the “justicemobile.” The governor’s proposal would gradually raise the minimum wage from $9 an hour to $15. Business groups say it would hurt the economy, but Cuomo says the increase is the right thing to do.

He said big businesses are perpetrating an “absurd scam” in which they pay their employees so little that they must depend on taxpayer-funded social service programs.
