A 5-ton generator falling from a crane at a construction site Thursday morning killed two workers.

Hanover Mayor Ronald Francioli says a strap on a crane lowering the generator at Whippany Fire Company snapped Thursday morning. The first man died at the scene and the second died later at a hospital.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration spokeswoman Lenore Uddyback-Forston says an inspector was dispatched to the work site to investigate after the fatal accident.
