Ex-Spring Valley Mayor Ordered to Jail After Surgery

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The former mayor of Spring Valley, convicted last year of taking bribes, was ordered to report to prison by Feb. 29 after undergoing surgery on Tuesday, the Journal News reported. Noramie Jasmin was sentenced to a 4-year term.

 

Atlantic City Lawmakers Banned From Using City Cars

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Facing state control of its finances, Atlantic City on Wednesday banned council members from using city-owned vehicles, The Press of Atlantic City reported. The $63,000 cost of three vehicles was cited as an example of wasteful spending.

 

Apple Honored for Preserving NYC Historic Structures

NEW YORK – Apple will be recognized on March 9 for preserving historic structures in NYC, the Landmarks Conservancy said. The company will receive the 2016 Chairman’s Award for its stores in Grand Central Terminal and the historic districts in the Upper East Side, SoHo and the Meatpacking District.
