This Isn’t a Sofa: Police Will Wake Up Subway Riders

NEW YORK (AP) —

New York City police will be waking up people who take naps while riding the subway, police chief William Bratton said Wednesday.

Bratton says he realizes people are tired when they get off work but snoozing puts them at higher risk of assault and pickpocketing.

“If you are sleeping on the subway, you make yourself a very easy victim and much more susceptible to a crime,” Bratton said. “Subways are not for sleeping.”
