NY Announces $25M to Encourage Local Government Streamlining

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) —

New York state is offering to help towns, cities and school districts find ways to streamline their services to save tax dollars.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday that the state will set aside $25 million for local governments that come up with the best plans for restructuring their operations to become more cost-effective.

Cuomo, a Democrat, says the goal is to make New York state more affordable by reducing the tax burden on residents.
