Clinton Addresses Jewish Federation

Des Moines, IA

Democratic candidate for president Hillary Clinton, addressing the Jewish Federation of Greater Des Moines Monday night, expressed her strong support for Israel.

In her remarks, quoted by Reuters, Clinton said, “I’ve had the great experience of visiting Israel many times, of making friends with so many of the leaders and activists, who have built Israel and have continued to fight and defend it.” Clinton added, “And I have been in the middle of the raucous debate that Israeli democracy represents, and it is for me, a very deep connection.”

On Saturday, The Des Moines Register endorsed Clinton’s “knowledge and experience,” according to the newspaper’s board.

Although The Register is Iowa’s largest newspaper, endorsement does not guarantee success in the state’s caucus system of picking nominees. The caucus is to be held Feb. 1.
