Malaysia Detains 7 Suspected IS Members Plotting Attacks
Malaysian police have detained seven more people suspected of being Islamic State members who were plotting attacks in the country.
National police chief Khalid Abu Bakar says the seven Malaysians were detained over the past three days in several states. He says the operation was a follow-up to the Jan. 15 detention of a man who was planning a suicide attack in Kuala Lumpur.
Khalid says police also seized a cache of bullets. He says the seven men were members of the same terror cell which was planning attacks in strategic locations across Malaysia. He said in a statement Sunday that one of the suspects received orders from an Indonesian man in Syria who had a role in planning the recent bombings in Jakarta.
