Media Shows Indifference to Otniel Murder

YERUSHALAYIM -

While the Jewish people in Israel and around the world reacted with anguish to the news of the terrorist murder of Dafna Meir, Hy”d, in Otniel, some of the world’s leading media outlets had little or no reaction at all.

Among those who failed to cover the atrocity on Monday were The Wall Street Journal, CNN, NPR, The Times of London, the Daily Telegraph, The Guardian, The Australian and the Sydney Morning Herald, according to a list compiled by the watchdog site Honest Reporting.

Reuters relegated it to “latest incident” treatment in what amounted to a roundup of the day’s news from Israel.

By contrast, the Associated Press and AFP wire services ran it as a stand-alone story.

The BBC published a brief item with the headline, “Israeli woman killed in Otniel Settlement House.”
