Heavy Lake-Effect Snow Expected in Western NY

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) —

Heavy lake-effect snow and cold temperatures are expected in parts of central and western New York.

The National Weather Service has issued lake-effect snow warnings in the Rochester and Syracuse areas and for western portions of the Southern Tier. Warnings are up in Oneida, Onondaga and Madison counties until Tuesday evening and meteorologists say up to 20 inches of snow could fall in some areas.

Temperatures are expected to fall to the single digits and teens.

The service warns against traveling in the heavy and blowing snow.
