Man Who Helped Homeless Person On Subway To Be Honored

NEW CITY, N.Y.

A man shown on video last week removing his shirt and handing it to a shirtless and shivering homeless man riding the New York City subway will be honored Tuesday by the Rockland County legislature.

Aron Wieder, chairman of the legislature’s Public Safety Committee, will recognize Joey Resto for his act of kindness at an official event.

Since the incident on the A train Jan. 8, Resto was singled out for a standing ovation at Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s State of the State address on Wednesday where he was a special guest.

The event will take place at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Allison-Parris County Office Building, 11 New Hempstead Road in New City.
