Official: 2 Palestinians Killed in Gaza-Israel Border Clash

YERUSHALAYIM (AP) -

Two Palestinians were killed in clashes with Israeli soldiers on the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel, a Palestinian health ministry official said.

Ashraf al-Kidra said they were shot during confrontations Friday afternoon.

Israel’s military said that Palestinians rushed the Gaza border and tried to damage the security fence. It said Palestinians rolled burning tires and threw rocks at soldiers.

Soldiers called on them to stop and fired warning shots in the air. When they persisted, the troops fired “at rioters posing a threat of infiltration,” the military said.
