A car was finally freed from its lakeside parking lot frozen cage where the vehicle was stuck for three days after becoming encased in ice several inches thick.

Four workers from a towing company used 350 pounds of de-icer and shovels Wednesday to free the tires and remove Justin Yelen’s Mitsubishi Lancer from the parking lot at a restaurant on the Lake Erie shore in Hamburg, just south of Buffalo.

Yelen says he was drinking with friends Sunday night when he decided to leave the car in the lot and get a ride home.

High winds from lake-effect storms sent spray over the car and lot, freezing the vehicle in place. The resulting ice sculpture got millions of views around the world and made it onto Hamodia’s front page on Wednesday. The car is now thawing out at a body shop.
