2 Men Arrested Following Bank Robbery, Schools Locked Down

SYOSSET, N.Y. (AP) —

Police say two bank robbery suspects have been arrested following a police chase and crash on Long Island.

The incident caused the Syosset public schools to be placed on lockdown.

Police say the suspects robbed a bank in Bay Shore shortly after 9 a.m., and they were captured about 20 miles away in Syosset after crashing into a police cruiser on Jericho Turnpike. One suspect was immediately caught and the second was arrested at a nearby apartment complex.

Suffolk County Deputy Police Commissioner Tim Sini said one suspect was injured. Neither was immediately identified.

Sini said that two police officers suffered knee injuries, but that reports that shots may have been fired are not true.
