Police: NY Man, 91, Hit and Killed Crossing Street

ROSE, N.Y. (AP) —

State troopers say a 91-year-old man died when he was hit by a car while crossing a street in Upstate New York.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Wayne County town of Rose, about 35 miles east of Rochester.

Troopers say Herman Shippers was crossing Salter Road from his home when he was hit by a vehicle driven by a 24-year-old Savannah man who didn’t see the victim.

Shippers was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
