ALBANY (AP) -

A state commission has recommended seven candidates to fill the vacancy on New York’s highest court that followed Judge Susan Read’s retirement in August.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo is expected to nominate from the list that the Commission on Judicial Nomination considers well qualified and selected from 52 applicants. They include Justices Judith Gische and Erin Peradotto, attorneys Caitlin Halligan, Rowan Wilson, Michael Garcia, the former federal prosecutor in Manhattan, Stephen Younger, former president of the New York State Bar Association, and Benjamin Rosenberg, general counsel for the Manhattan DA.
