A Hizbullah official said on Monday that Israel will be held accountable for killing prominent terrorist Samir Kuntar in a strike in Syria over the weekend.

“If the Israelis think by killing Samir Kuntar they have closed an account, then they are very mistaken because they know and will come to know that they have instead opened several more,” senior Hizbullah official, Hashem Safeieddine, said at Kuntar’s funeral.

Thousands of people chanted “death to Israel” as Hizbullah terrorists in military uniforms carried Kuntar’s coffin to a Shi’ite Muslim cemetery in south Beirut, where he was laid to rest.

Earlier, IDF officials said that they believe that even if Hizbullah responds to the elimination of Kuntar, it is likely to be a “light” response.
