Bus Driver Charged for Fatally Hitting Woman

The New York Police Department’s Collision Investigation Squad has arrested an MTA bus driver who struck and killed a Jewish woman last week in Sheepshead Bay, reported JP Updates.

Police officials said Monday morning that they had arrested 52-year-old Wayne Alman, of Brooklyn, and charged him with failure to yield to a pedestrian in connection with last Monday’s incident, in which Eleonora Shulkina was killed.

On Monday evening, Dec. 14, Shulkina, 62, was crossing East 17th Street at the corner of Avenue Z, when she was struck by a B36 bus. Shulkina was brought by EMS to Coney Island Hospital in critical condition, and she died soon thereafter.

Shulkina was the fifth pedestrian killed by a city bus in the past few weeks.
