Upper East Side Building Evacuated Over Falling Bricks; 1st Ave. Closed Bet. 60-64 Sts.

Residents of an Upper East Side building remain evacuated over concerns that falling bricks from a building next door could crash through their building, reports CBS.

On Thursday, New York City’s Department of Buildings ordered the 16 tenants of 346 East 63rd Street to leave their building, after bricks began falling on Monday from a neighboring building on First Avenue and East 64th Street. The tenants of 346 East 63rd Street have still not been allowed back in.

Department of Buildings workers have put up scaffolding so that an an inspector can investigate the crumbling building. In the meantime, First Avenue remains shut down between 60th and 64th Streets.
