Deadly Boro Park Blast Set by Tenant Using Gasoline

NEW YORK (AP/Hamodia) —

A tenant used gasoline to trigger an explosion on Boro Park’s 13th Ave. over Sukkos that killed her and another resident, fire officials said on Friday.

The Fire Department says 47-year-old Francisca Figueroa poured gasoline in the stairwell of the three-story building on the second day of Sukkos. Investigators are still trying to determine a motive.

Officials initially explored natural gas from a stove as a possible cause of the explosion, but they shifted their focus to other fuel sources. Tenant Ligia Puello also died in the fire and three passers-by were injured.
