New York State Halting Highway Work This Weekend

ALBANY (AP) -

In a move to ease Thanksgiving weekend traffic, New York state will temporarily halt highway lane closures caused by road work between 6 a.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Monday.

Work may still continue behind concrete barriers or when emergency repairs are needed.

The day before Thanksgiving and the Sunday following it are typically two of the heaviest traffic days on the state Thruway system.
