Knesset Passes Changes To Draft Law
Late Monday night, the Knesset passed the second and third readings of the proposed changes to the draft law that had been promised to the chareidi parties in the coalition agreement. The law passed shortly after midnight by a 49–36 margin. The Arab MKs were not present during the vote; therefore, a majority of 61 votes was not required for passage, and some of the coalition MKs left early.
Following the vote, the anti-chareidi Yesh Atid party released a statement vowing to mount a legal challenge at the High Court against the new law.
