Transit Vet Named President of NYC Subway, Bus System

NEW YORK (AP) -

New York City’s transit system has a new president.

Veronique “Ronnie” Hakim was appointed Tuesday as president of NYC Transit, the arm of the MTA which oversees the subways and buses that ferry 8 million daily commuters.

Hakim worked for the MTA for 23 years and was executive director of NJ Transit. She begins work Dec. 28, replacing an interim president who took over after Carmen Bianco retired in August.
