Q Train Skipping Midwood This Week Due to Repairs

BROOKLYN

Service repairs will take the Q train running through Midwood out of service this week for much of the day, with the rail operating an express instead, the MTA announced Monday.

New York City’s transit agency notified riders that from Monday through Friday, Q trains operating between Newkirk Avenue and Kings Highway will be running on the express line from 9:45 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

According to state Sen. Simcha Felder, however, the MTA will end work early on Friday in order to accommodate the early Shabbos. The service change will conclude at 2:00 p.m. instead, allowing Shabbos observers enough time to reach their destination before the start of Shabbos.

“Many of my constituents were worried that they wouldn’t be able to get home in time for Shabbos,” said Felder, a Brooklyn Democrat. “I’m grateful to the MTA for their sensitivity to the Sabbath-observing public.”
