Off-Duty NYPD Officer Critical After Car Crash
An off-duty New York City police officer is in critical condition following a crash Sunday night on the New York State Thruway, between exits 15A and 16.
Officer Alexis Penate, 32, of Highland Mills, NY., lost control of his Jeep after hitting the rear of another car. The Jeep overturned several times, ejecting Penate onto the roadway. He was taken to Westchester Medical Center, while the driver and passenger of the other car were not injured.
According to JPUpdates.com, motorists called 911 and the Kiryas Joel Hatzolah who treated the officer.
