Israel-Jordan Industrial Zone On the Drawing Board

YERUSHALAYIM -

The joint Israel-Jordan committee for Security and Transportation, convened in the Jordan Valley Regional Council to discuss progress on the Jordan Gate project — an industrial district slated for construction about four miles south of the Jordan River Crossing.

The Deputy Minister for Regional Cooperation MK Ayub Kara, said: “This is an important milestone in advancing an economic project of such broad scope, that will provide employment and development for the people of Israel, Jordan and the entire region.”

On the Jordan side will be established Jordanian and Israeli factories, while on the Israeli side there will be a depot for transporting merchandise to Israeli ports. Between the two will be a bridge for carrying across goods and for pedestrians.
