Updated Report Has Ramapo Under ‘Significant’ Stress

ALBANY (AP) —

New York’s comptroller reports 15 municipalities were under “significant” fiscal stress last year, with low fund balances and operating deficits, while another 11, including Ramapo, were moderately stress.

The counties are Monroe, Broome, Nassau, St. Lawrence, Franklin and Rockland; the cities of Glen Cove and Albany; and the towns of East Fishkill, Jasper, Ramapo, Pierrepont, Coeymans, Cherry Valley and Parish.

Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli says financial trends in some local governments haven’t improved and things are “looking tougher” for cities.
