Distressed Driver Gets Unexpected Help From Cuomo’s Detail

ALBANY (AP) —

A driver in distress got some unexpected help from Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s security detail Tuesday after hitting a concrete barrier and a flatbed truck with his SUV.

According to state police and the governor’s office, the four-member detail dropped Cuomo at the airport before noon following an appearance in Binghamton. On the way back, they chanced upon the accident on Route 17 that ended with the SUV attached to the rear of the truck and both stopped on the shoulder of the highway.

They saw the driver was having a medical problem, apparently having a seizure, called 911, removed him from the vehicle and lay him down, checked his vital signs and stayed with him until an ambulance arrived.
