Treasury Sanctions Syrian Government’s Energy Networks

WASHINGTON (AP) -

The Treasury Department on Monday targeted 11 companies and individuals suspected of providing energy products the Syrian government of Bashar Assad is using in the conflict there. Treasury said many of those targeted are front companies the Syrian government has used to evade sanctions.

Monday’s action freezes any assets the entities have in U.S. jurisdictions and prohibits Americans from doing business with them.

The companies sanctioned are: The Eagles, Morgan Additives Manufacturing Co., Milenyum Energy, Blue Energy, Elba Trade, and Green Shipping Ltd. and Aqua Shipping Ltd. The four individuals sanctioned are employed by Milenyum.
