Police Officer Slashed Outside Coney Island Subway

A man slashed a New York City police officer with a knife before he was shot to death outside a Coney Island subway station.

A bystander saw the man assaulting a woman Thursday afternoon and went into the station to get the officer. The cop yelled for the man to drop the knife before he was slashed. He then shot the assailant twice.

The officer was hospitalized with minor neck and shoulder injuries.
