Hundreds of Palestinians from Yehudah and Shomron and Gaza will be permitted to enter Yerushalayim to visit family members and attend Friday prayers on Har Habayis during the month of Ramadan.
The unprecedented decision was announced by the Defense Ministry on Tuesday as part of a series of steps to relax travel restrictions on Palestinians.
“For the first time, the arrival of worshippers will be allowed via bus directly from the city centers to Har Habayis, ” said Major-General Yoav Mordechai. “The IDF will allow the entry of all Palestinians, men and women without a special permit, with the exception of men between the ages of 30 and 40.
This and the loosening of other restrictions came on the recommendation of IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gadi Eizenkot. Extensive security precautions are being taken.
