Coney Island’s Cyclone Breaks Down in Mid-Ride
Coney Island’s historic Cyclone roller coaster broke down in middle of a ride Saturday — for the second time this season.
Riders were forced to climb down the wooden structure. No injuries were reported. The 88-year-old Cyclone also broke down when it opened for the season in March.
A spokeswoman for Luna Park, which manages the roller coaster, says there was “a minor issue” with the ride that was fixed without incident. After inspection, the Cyclone was back up and running later Saturday.
