NY Bill Proposes Further Easing Tax Bills of Seniors
A bill aimed at further lowering the tax bills of New York state’s elderly passed the Senate on Sunday and was sent to the Assembly.
Sponsored in the Senate by Sens. Simcha Felder and Marty Golden, the bill increases the maximum income eligibility levels for real property tax exemptions for seniors for the first time since 1994. That will allow seniors to receive increased relief from their local real property taxes.
Assemblyman Steve Englebright, a Suffolk County Democrat, is the sponsor in the Assembly.
