Air Raid Sirens In Ashdod, Lachish

YERUSHALAYIM (Hamodia Staff) —

Air raid sirens sounded in Ashdod and Lachish near Kiryat Gat in southern Israel on Tuesday evening just after 9 p.m., as a rocket landed near Gan Yavne.

One resident in Lachish said, “There was a siren and we heard a big explosion,” and an IDF spokesperson shortly thereafter confirmed the attack.

B’chasdei Shamayim, no injuries or damage were reported.

A Hamas official said it wasn’t clear who fired the rocket. The official spoke on condition of anonymity as he wasn’t authorized to brief journalists about the fired rocket.

Hamas, the Islamic terror group that rules Gaza, has fired thousands of rockets at Israel over the years. But rocket fire has mostly stopped since the end of last summer’s war between Gaza terrorists and Israel.

Other terrorists groups have fired rockets in the meantime, though Israel holds Hamas responsible for all attacks coming out of Gaza.
