The Knesset assigned a bodyguard to protect the incoming justice minister after she received death threats and was depicted in a Nazi uniform on social media.

Knesset speaker Yuli Edelstein said he was “shocked to see explicit threats” to Ayelet Shaked’s life. It was immediately decided that she be assigned security, he told Army Radio on Monday.

Shaked, 39, is an outspoken member of the Jewish Home party, which is nationalistic. Her appointment angered many. She has no legal background and has promoted bills critics say are meant to stifle dovish groups.

Former Justice Minister Tzipi Livni said she “profoundly disagree[s]” with the “views of Ayelet Shaked, members of Jewish Home and the new government in general” but “strongly condemns … these images.”
