Gaza Flotilla Starts From Sweden
Another seagoing attempt to break Israel’s security permiter of the Gaza coast has been launched from Sweden, according to media reports on Monday.
The first vessel of a pro-Palestinian flotilla, the trawler Marianne of Gothenburg, part of the so-called Freedom Flotilla III, left for the Hamas-run enclave on Sunday.
The vessel is reportedly carrying a “limited cargo of, among other things, solar cell panels and medical equipment,” according to a statement by the Ship to Gaza campaign.
The Marianne, with its five crew members, is said to be picking up several more people during stops at Helsingborg, Malmo, Copenhagen and other ports before continuing on to Gaza. Israel, and more recently Egypt, maintain a security perimiter to prevent Hamas, a terror group avowedly committed to the destruction of Israel, from importing weaponry into Gaza to use against Israel.
