N.Y. Late Day Private School Busing Expanded

ALBANY (Hamodia staff) —

An additional $4.5 million dollars was included in the New York state budget to the law providing busing for students in private schools who stay later than 4:00 p.m., sponsors Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein and Sen. Simcha Felder announced.

The busing law they passed two years ago was made permanent last year. The new funding allows more schools to apply.

“The heavy increase in interest demanded that we provide even more funding so schools and students aren’t left out,” Weinstein said.

The increase brings the total funding to $12.6 million.
