Registration Begins For NYC Pre-K

NEW YORK (AP) —

New York City parents are now able to register their children for pre-kindergarten this fall.

The initial sign-up period began Monday and ends April 24. All 4-year-olds are entitled to a slot in the free program this September.

The expansion of pre-K is a key component of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s administration. His team expanded the number of seats to more than 50,000 last fall and wants to increase it to more than 70,000 next year.
