More Emergency Heating Aid for NYers in Need
Additional help is available for New Yorkers in danger of running out of heating oil or having their utility service shut off, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said on Tuesday.
An additional $33 million in Home Energy Assistance Program assistance is being made available in light of the recent cold snap and additional federal funding. Applications for regular and emergency HEAP benefits will be accepted through Friday, March 27.
Eligible households can normally receive one regular and one emergency HEAP benefit per winter. But now households can apply for a second emergency benefit.
Emergency benefits for households can run as high as $575.
