Daily News May Be Up For Sale

NEW YORK – The owner of the Daily News sent a memo to employees on Thursday that he was approached about a potential sale and while “there were no immediate plans … we thought it would be prudent to explore the possibility,” The Associated Press reported. Mort Zuckerman hired a financial advisory firm.

Cuomo to Lead N.Y. Trade Mission to Cuba in Spring

ALBANY – Gov. Andrew Cuomo plans to visit Cuba on April 20 for a state trade mission, he said Thursday. The trip was announced five weeks after President Barack Obama began discussions on re-establishing relations that were cut off in early 1961.

Charges Dropped Against Retiree With Antique Pistol

BRIDGETON, N.J. – Weapons charges were dropped Wednesday against a retired teacher caught with a 300-year-old pistol, The Associated Press reported. Gordon VanGlider, 72, was arrested with the antique flintlock pistol during a car stop.

Cuomo: No Aides Subpoenaed In Corruption Probe

ALBANY – Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his senior staff have not been subpoenaed by federal prosecutors investigating corruption in Albany, the administration said Wednesday.

WAWARSING, N.Y. – Developers who failed to land a casino license in Monticello advanced plans to build a smaller gambling resort there, The Associated Press reported.

De Blasio: Mistake to Invite Netanyahu Before Election

NEW YORK – It was a “mistake” for the House Speaker to invite Israel’s prime minister, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Thursday. “There’s been a tradition that foreign leaders are not invited to address Congress in the immediate weeks before their elections,” he said.
