Bill de Blasio on Monday night attended his first chasunah since becoming New York City mayor, journeying to New Square for the chasunah of the Skverer Rebbe’s grandson.

A former city councilman representing parts of Boro Park, de Blasio had been a frequent sight at chasunahs.

The Rebbe’s grandson, Mordechai, a son of the Rebbe’s son Harav Yaakov Yosef — who is a son-in-law of the Chernobler Rebbe of Boro Park — married the daughter of Harav Gedalya Moshe Rosenbaum, a son-in-law of the Zutchka Rebbe of Bnei Brak.

The Rebbe asked de Blasio about metzitza b’peh, an issue which was finalized the next day. The mayor then sat with Skverer askanim from New York City, who thanked him for his recent efforts in making pre-K more accessible to yeshivos.
