Warehouse Fire Damage to Public Records Less Than Feared

NEW YORK (AP) —

Damage to two New York City agencies’ public records from a huge warehouse fire in Williamsburg is expected to be less than initially feared.

Hundreds of firefighters battled the 7-alarm fire that started a week ago Saturday and smoldered for days. Among the agencies who stored records at the CitiStorage warehouse are the health department and the Administration for Children’s Services.

The health department says the impact on patients will be minimal because the information was switched to electronic records years ago.
