Microsoft Launches Skype for iOS Testing Program

(Los Angeles Times/TNS) -

Microsoft wants users to help make Skype for iOS better.

The company has rolled out a testing program for its popular video-messaging service. Volunteers will get access to early versions of Skype and will be asked to regularly offer comments on their experience, Microsoft said.

“We’re looking for enthusiastic Skype users who are interested in providing feedback that will shape and enhance Skype for iOS to join our new prerelease program,” the company said in a blog post Wednesday.

Microsoft warned that spots for the testing program are limited. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a valid email address and a Skype or Microsoft account.

Microsoft also said it had released Skype 5.9 for iPhone, which brings improvements to both the dial pad and new chat picker.

Among the updates: Now, when a user starts typing a phone number in the dial pad, Skype will suggest contacts with matching phone numbers, making it faster to find the right person.
