Mrs. Esther Draizel Mandel, a”h
As we went to print, we received the terrible news of the passing of Mrs. Esther Draizel Mandel, a”h. She was 55 years old.
Born in Williamsburg, she was the wife of, ybl”c, Hagaon Harav Nechemia Mandel, shlita, the grandson of the Gerrer Rebbe, the Lev Simcha, zy”a.
Mrs. Mandel’s father was Rabbi Yitzchok Meir Yoskowitz, z”l. She grew up in Yerushalayim in a home steeped in Chassidus and yiras Shamayim, and was known for her noble character and middos tovos. Her countless acts of chessed left their imprint on all who knew her.
She was ill for the last 11 years of her life, but did whatever she could to prevent others from worrying about her; rather, she took care of everyone around her.
The levayah left from her home in Ashdod. Hespedim were delivered by Harav Shmuel Dovid Hacohen Gross, and by family members. The levayah then continued in front of the Gerrer beis medrash in Yerushalayim. It left from there during late-night hours, accompanied by a huge crowd, headed by the Gerrer Rebbe, shlita.
