Jewish Groups Launch Fund for NYPD Families

BROOKLYN (Hamodia Staff) —

Jewish groups from Flatbush on Tuesday launched a memorial fund to help the widows and orphans left behind by the murder of the two police officers shot on Saturday.

Representatives from the Flatbush Jewish Community Coalition, Hatzolah of Flatbush and the Flatbush Shomrim are spearheading a fund in partnership with state Sen. Simcha Felder, Assembly members Steven Cymbrowitz, Dov Hikind and Helene Weinstein, and Councilmembers Chaim Deutsch and David Greenfield to honor the memories of the slain officers, “who made the ultimate sacrifice on our city’s behalf,” according to an FJCC press release.

“This special fund will financially assist the NYPD widows and orphans and demonstrate our community’s heartfelt appreciation, condolences and support to the members of the NYPD,” wrote Josh Mehlman, president of the FJCC.

Funds will be distributed with guidance from Brooklyn South NYPD Precinct Commanders.
