T-Mobile Unveils Data-Rollover Feature

SEATTLE (The Seattle Times/TNS) —

Ending the year with another “Un-carrier” move, T-Mobile US on Tuesday announced “Data Stash,” or data rollover.

Starting in January 2015, Data Stash will be available for new and existing Simple Choice plan holders who have purchased at least 3 GBs of high-speed data for smartphones and 1 GB or more for tablets.

Each customer will receive 10 GB of free data in their “stash.” Once that free stash is used up, any unused high-speed data will start to roll over every month and will be available for the next year.

“It’s your data,” T-Mobile CEO John Legere said Tuesday during the announcement. “What you don’t use, you won’t lose.”

T-Mobile, based in Bellevue, Wash., has been unveiling its Un-carrier moves since March 2013, when it put an end to annual contracts with Un-carrier 1.0. Since then, the company has announced other promotions ranging from free data for life to contract freedom and music freedom to the T-Mobile test drive and wi-fi calling.
