NYPD Increased Security During Sydney Siege

The NYPD sent resources to the Australian Consulate General’s office and Lindt Chocolate stores in New York among other locations.
The 16-hour siege ended early Tuesday in the death of the gunman and two hostages. Police Chief William Bratton said Monday the extra security measures were in keeping with a policy during events that have a potential “ripple effect.”
