Lawmakers Helping Prepare Heartshare Applications

BROOKLYN (Hamodia Staff) —

Home heating aid for the coming winter is being made available beginning Tuesday from HeartShare, The Neighborhood Heating Fund.

Several Brooklyn lawmakers aid applications can be filled out at their offices.

State Sen. Simcha Felder said his office was able to help people save more than $30,000 towards their National Grid heating bills last year, “and this year, I’m hoping to be able to help even more people by bringing the Heartshare Program directly to their Shul or school.

Felder said his staff will be on hand to help fill out the applications and submit them on their behalf. His office number is 718-253-2015.

Assemblyman Dov Hikind is also helping with HeartShare at his office, which can be contacted at 718-853-9616.

“Residents in need of assistance should not hesitate to take advantage of HearthShare,” Hikind said.

The fund was founded by National Grid in 1983 to help low-income families and individuals with elevated bills meet their monthly payments.

Qualifying constituents must bring proof of income and proper identification.
